Hey all!
Anthony here again, and it’s been quite a doozy of a week. Things definitely escalated quickly. I felt like I took on much more responsibilities this past week than I have the entire program so far.
Dee had me take over campaigns that are somewhat different: Cold email campaigns and a complicated LinkedIn Campaign (that one definitely had me sweating ha!)
They both involved making an email copy, which Dee kindly refined after my sloppy first draft. For the most part though I feel like things are starting to make a lot more sense. The workflow is a bit smoother (although I moved across the country in between weeks), using the programs has been a learning curve but it has become clearer. It’s fantastic to have an entire lead gen team that I can call out to when I need help (which feels like a lot! Glad they’re patient lol)
I think one thing I’d like to improve on still is communication, both to the internal and external team. That’s one thing that can be tough to manage when you are juggling a good amount of clients. It’s my goal next week to get a better balance.
This coming week does not look like things will slow down. We had a lot more clients come on while I was moving, so more work to do. I do feel like by this week, I’m much more skilled than I was at the start. I’m loving remote work-life and excited to see where this internship takes me. Until then, catch ya next week! What’s New?This week, I branched out from writing my regular guest posts into marketing and sales. I’ve been working specifically with lead generation for Pearl Lemon Leads. When there was a need for someone to take over a specific lead generation campaign, I volunteered to help. I think I offered to help because I needed a change of pace and I also wanted to try something new for this week. It was an opportunity for me to understand how to do copywriting for sales purposes and communicate with prospective clients. The lead generation side of Pearl Lemon is very complex and full of intense learning curves. It took many hours for me to go through the basic training to understand how day-to-day things work. I can’t say that I’m finally an expert at lead generation. However, I can say that I know how to run a lead generation campaign (which is pretty cool if you ask me). Generally speaking, this has been a good change of pace from my regular routine. For the next few weeks, I’ll be conducting team memberal lead generation tasks on a daily basis for a few hours per day. This will help me and the team stay in touch with prospects in a timely manner. Aside from running my first lead generation campaign, I’ve been working closely with Federica and Giulia to launch Pearl Lemon Academy. The process has been complex, yet enjoyable because of the great team I’m working with. It’s a good opportunity to brainstorm, research, and find innovative solutions that could benefit our future students. This developmental stage causes me to look back at my own experiences when I was first starting out as a writer. I have to ask myself, “what helped me land my first client?” And “what skills do I wish I’d developed sooner?” The answers to these questions are used to tailor a program for writers to build their own writing business and make money online. It is quite exciting to see this all unfold because it looks like Pearl Lemon Academy will expand to other fields like PR, business development, and sales as well. I like to grow with an organization and that’s exactly what I feel is going on right now. So this makes me more motivated to work and to produce better content. Next week, I look forward to seeing how far we go in developing the Pearl Lemon Academy programs. I also kind of enjoy lead generation, so I’m going to spend more time mastering my sales skills which I could eventually translate into my copywriting. Overall, it’s been a productive week (as always). I love that I’m still feeling challenged and my mind is continuously being stretched! Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/intern-blog-update-5-pearl-content-writer/ Hello everyone, I’m back again and very excited to share my experiences at Pearl Lemon. Today 27th November 2020, I’ve been a part of Pearl Lemon for 29 weeks, You should be knowing if you had read my previous blogs, how’s it gonna be being with Pearl Lemon Fam! It’s just a rush ride as we are growing super fast, as usual, this week had been the same- a couple of new people joined the team and more are in the trial week. Professionally the best part of this week is, our resume’s brand Resumecats has hit 1000+ Users in 24 Hours and Baris Our Head of Growth Resumecats definitely deserves an appreciation mention for his hard work for making the successful start for Resumecats. Lemme do a recap of what I did this week at work now. I’m getting help from Akhila more, as she’s taking over some process tasks gradually so that I can focus more on the research and development side of the business and evidently I got many more things done in this week than expected. Here are a few tasks in a brief
Here are few tools Dee brought this week,
Apart from this, I’ve been into setting up domains a lot got many domains setup this week both for clients and team memberal projects, each time Google gave me new challenges and thanks to our in-house expert Kaushal, this happened smoothly, audited domains and categorised for disposal and now I feel like a domain expert! Campaigns have been the other part launched multiple campaigns on Mailshake for SEO & Link Building, thanks to Heather for helping me up with copies and creative suggestions for the subject lines. And here’s my Clockify- just to keep the streak up Well, that’s it for this week. Catch you next Friday, until then stay safe and will keep posting further updates (TJ at Pearl Lemon) Thanks! — TJ The post Weekly Team Member Update 29 – Tenny (Head of Research) appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/weekly-team-member-update-29-tenny-head-of-research/ Weekly Team member Update: Week 5 Five weeks done! This was a particularly exciting week, a week of firsts. I did a bit of hosting in our weekly call on Friday for the first time! I must say, I think I did a pretty good job. In fact, I did such a good job that I went well over time with the icebreakers and left very little for actual business. Look at that charismatic face in the middle with the red jumper and see how (almost) everyone is smiling their face off. Every week the host has to go round the group and ask a question. My question was “what is your single favourite cooking ingredient?” I think I kicked off with coriander. We had a great range that really showed off the diversity in the group, with Indians and Italians in particular dominating the culinary sphere (I hope the others don’t feel like they’re missing out). My other novelty was that I had my first performance review. This was a great experience, it made me think about myself and how I work. Specifically we talked about what I’ve done well at Pearl Lemon, what I’ve done badly (or less well), what I should do more going forward, and what I would like to get involved with more over time. My situation is a strange one – my time commitments mean I do less work for Pearl Lemon than normal, but at some point I intend to scale up and work on some other things like lead generation and SEO. The other great thing about this performance review is that it was with Noah, who I really enjoy talking to. Noah had never done a performance review before so this was a first for him as well (you’re welcome)! On top of all this exciting business, of course I had my usual work. My two guest posts for the week were about buying cars in Oman. One was specifically about Nissan models and the other about Toyotas. I don’t know anything about cars, as I’ve said before. Writing these posts has been my introduction to this field. I’ve learnt a little bit about engines, fuel, special features, and how to cut costs. All very handy knowledge. Not that I can actually drive yet… Actually, there’s a third first (confusingly), which is that I finally started using Pageoptimizer Pro! That’s very exciting – it gives you quite detailed advice on how to optimise your content for search engines, which is pretty important obviously. In fact, it’s basically the whole point of what I do. I hate to brag, but I think 43.4 is a pretty good score for my first work put in to the application… But hopefully I’ll keep upping my scores. The app is really helpful, it comes with a Chrome extension, which works as you’re writing content quite seamlessly. I wouldn’t have been able to do this without Pearl’s help. She was so supportive and made an amazing Loom video to take me through the process of using the app. All in all, it’s been a really good week! I’ve enjoyed my work as always and I’ve had the opportunity to do a lot of new things, which I love. Now begins week 6! The post Weekly Intern Update 5 – Rajiv (Content Creator) appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/weekly-intern-update-5-rajiv-content-creator/ Hey Everyone!
It’s tier two in London, it’s a blisteringly cold, wintery day here in Norfolk, and I’m curled up under a blanket with a hot mug of tea. Guess it’s time to update you on the week I had.
So, this week has been super heavy on the writing. And honestly, I’m pretty proud! I’ve got a lot done while balancing my uni commitments.
I’ve even had the time to start my research for my dissertation (part of which includes playing video games…we love a bit of media game theory) and finish up some essays.
On top of all this, I’m getting published by Zapier! I’ve pitched my idea, signed the contract, and written the guest post. It’s gonna be all about my experience hosting a podcast for Plant Sumo.
Wanna know more? Better read on….
Of course all of this is thanks to Heather and her fantastic PR, I really can’t express my gratitude enough. So here’s some heart emojis instead <3 <3 <3
Anyway, without further ado, here’s my weekly highlights!
Highlights
Zapier Guest Blog Post
So, as I previously mentioned- I’m getting a guest post blog published by Zapier. They are a business website, and their blog specialises in sharing helpful advice for growing your business be it big, small or freelance.
For them I’ve written a post on how a podcast is an effective means to grow your business (especially if it’s small) due to it’s cheapness, accessibility, simplicity, authenticity and potential to become a catalyst for self growth.
I know that hosting ‘The Plant Sumo Podcast’ has been a major source of enjoyment and self-improvement for me.
You need self belief and spontaneity to host an entertaining podcast, so hosting one has really nurtured those qualities in me. And, of course, boosted my confidence. I’ve always thought about hosting a podcast on things that really fascinate me- like politics or fashion or art- but I always dismissed the idea as “nobody would listen to it”.
Yet- on this podcast about veganism, undoubtedly a niche subject, I have 100 listeners! So truly, anything is possible. Medium Blogs
So Dee wants to get Plant Sumo up and running on medium. As part of this, he assembled together a list of high ranking SEO words for the site through the use of Serpstart. I then consolidated these key words into a content calendar with potential titles.
From this, I used these key words to begin by writing several preliminary blogs for Plant Sumo on medium. These focused on:
On top of this I drafted posts for a lengthy opinion piece on, firstly ‘The Vegan Teacher’ Tiktok star, who is renowned for the toxic and extreme way in which she promotes her ethical beliefs.
And secondly, athletes who are vegan! which include of course Lionel Messi (people google this a lot) Serena Williams and Sergio Aguero. I’ve mentioned them in a previous article I did on building muscle on a plant-based diet, so I’m excited to crack on with this piece next week.
Plant Sumo Podcast BlogsI also continued the process of writing my Plant Sumo podcast recap blogs! This week I drafted up the recap for Salim and Melanie’s interview, and finished writing Isabele’s.
Me and her had a pretty in depth conversation so I found it a bit challenging to select my highlights, also it was more formal than the podcast I did with say Noah, so there were less opportunities for humour. However, I still felt it came out as an entertaining piece.
Still, all the blogs need to be edited with more personal images, which is going to be one of my tasks for next week.
I was thinking when I can pay for the digital tablet I’m saving up fo,r i’m going to start incorporating my illustrations into the pieces- will make it feel a lot more creative and personal.
Content Writer Training Videos.
Almost forgot, I also recorded a series of content writer training videos this week. The latest explaining how to turn podcasts into written content.
The most critical thing to remember about a podcast blog is this: why would someone read it rather than listen to your podcast?
Yes, time may be a factor, but most people read it for entertainment and further context. Meaning you need to make it as compelling, enjoyable and detailed as possible.
It’s a real way to showcase your personality, so my biggest piece of advice in the video was to experiment creatively with comedy, images and forms of writing.
Also remember to give plenty more context on people involved in the podcast (including you!)
The post appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/6697-2/ Ain’t no party like a PR party!
This week has definitely taken a positive shift towards PR. I feel like Deepak and Heather are at the bow of the Pequod and I’m just on the deck trying to slosh out water.
They’re taking serious leads and bounds in the right direction and I’m trying my best to keep up.
If I had one thing to improve upon for next week (which I’ll bring up in the meeting) it would be being more ‘on’ at all times. Usually, I’m pretty good at this but have had some personal life stuff going on and have been regularly waking up to 30+ messages to get through which obviously puts me a bit behind.
That being said, at the start of the week I had a good chance to catch up on a potential brand (Clarin’s) that we were pitching our PR services to. This also led to another first – helping to create a slide deck presentation.
This has quickly morphed into doing some general research for another potential client and so that we can start coming up with a PR strategy.
Hopefully, I can get my teeth into that and continue to support Heather. It does mean pitching (which was on pause anyway for one of our clients) also needs to be drawn back up with lots of things like email campaigns and launches going on simultaneously. It’s a lot of balls in the air.
I’ve been chugging along on a new PR guide as well which is cool to have another go at some long-form content. This one will be about reputation management with Tannishtha simultaneously doing one on crisis management.
We’ve conferred about our topics and hopefully, we won’t overlap. I don’t think this will be a problem as there looks to be more than enough to talk about (certainly on my end).
I’ve also handed off some process tasks to another team member on trial which I think was a smart move to free up my time to be more productive in an ongoing push to not ‘dwell’ on tasks too much. I’ll be checking over her work today before the team meeting.
In other news, only one more week until we’re out of lockdown (and back into ‘only’ tier systems). A session at the pub is well in order after a busy month.
And then it’s almost Christmas! I’ve started doing some shopping for it but who knows what it’ll be like. Maybe we’ll even get a white Christmas with our first proper cold frost today when I took the dog out for a walk.
I also smashed out a 3k piece for Pearl Lemon Properties for an ongoing task which hopefully some other team members will pick up some slack from – this I think will end up being a back-burner sort of priority as not a lot seems to be happening with the properties arm just yet.
I don’t think it was ever going to get finished (30 articles in 30 days or something?), so it’d be good to have a couple of extras hands tapping away at keyboards on that one.
For next week, I guess we’ll just have to see where our PR efforts get us and keep pushing until Christmas! Until then. The post Weekly Placement Update 8 – Harry (Content Writing/PR Team Member) appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/weekly-placement-update-8-harry-content-writing-pr-team-member/ This week started out quite well I must say. I had a shit sleep all weekend as I stayed up way too late and did nothing so Sunday I knocked out early, around 12:30am which is quite early for me given the fact that i usually sleep around 2am, which is also not very good. ANYWAYS. Woke up around 9am thanks to construction going on next door. Not only was it super loud but also I could feel it so falling back asleep wasn’t happening. I felt pretty refreshed anyways so it wasn’t bad. Stayed in bed for about another hour or so before cracking down and beginning work. I decided to start early feeling super motivated and productive which was a great feeling. Right as I began working my flatmate texted in the group chat saying someone at her office tested positive for COVID. They wouldn’t release who so we don’t know if she was in contact with them but until she could get tested she was isolated in her room and the rest of us quarantined in the house. It freaked me out, as I always think the worst case scenario but if she did get it she would have shown symptoms already so I just told myself everything was fine and went back to work. Tuesday was a slow work day. Not a lot going on, my tasks weren’t super stimulating so in a sense it felt like groundhog day. Waking up and doing the same thing. I’m learning from them still but it’s just the same routine and it started getting to me a bit on Tuesday. I felt that I needed to get my hands on some new tasks to continue to grow and gain experience. I don’t think I’ve seen the sun in over a week either since it’s been a super gloomy out which is definitely taking a toll on my mental health. I’m craving some fresh air, a nice walk, and some sun, fingers crossed it comes my way soon. I’m not quite used to the sun setting at 4:30pm either so that adjustment hasn’t been easy. On the flip side my flatmate got her results back and they are negative so that’s good news! No more isolating for her or quarantining for us. For over a week we haven’t had heat as part of the boiler is broken and we were waiting for the new piece to arrive so the plumber could come and install it. Thankfully the agency has provided us with space heaters, it would not have been fun if we didn’t have those either. On Wednesday the house was bustling with workers and cleaners here fixing the house. We got a new cleaner who was amazing. She literally scrubbed every inch of the house which was much needed. The plumber was in the kitchen installing the new piece so I stayed in my room so I wouldn’t be in their way. They were in the house all day though so eating had to wait till around 4pm which was rough. I was working on an empty stomach and could feel a migraine coming on. I had a meeting in the afternoon with Dee about my role at Pearl Lemon. It was in a sense a check up and a performance review. We discussed my journey with the company thus far changing some roles around as I expressed my disinterest in some tasks and interest in others. Thankfully Dee understood and helped me to figure out how to balance everything together so I can continue to learn and grow in the company. Thursday I started a bit late and the day was quite busy and overwhelming. I spent the majority of the day organising my tasks and figuring out what I have to do opposed to actually executing tasks which was quite frustrating for me as I felt useless, but we all have our good and bad days. Thankfully the heat and hot water are officially back, the wifi has turned to complete shit and with all five of us here it’s even worse. Every night around 5pm it gets increasingly worse, and it’s becoming almost impossible to watch and/or record videos for work which is quite problematic as many tasks are distributed through videos. I received a message that I’m out of cellular data too so time to really struggle for the next week or so! Fortunately, by the end of the day I managed to sort everything out and what I have to get done, so hopefully tomorrow and on will be better and a smoother ride. I think I jinxed myself with the wifi because to no surprise, it was much worse than anything. I was barely able to work on anything and with the new campaigns that I will be temporarily taking over on LinkedIn, I pray I won’t have too many difficulties with connection. I will begin them all starting Monday as it’s a new week and clean slate so on Friday I focussed on admin work and tasks that didn’t require a large amount of thought. We received a new router too hoping it’d help but to our luck it doesn’t even work so that’s just great for all of us. The team meeting was a mess, I was chosen to lead the conversation but everyone was cutting out; it was an absolute disaster for me. Made that the end of my week and took the weekend to wind down and relax before the busy next week begins. The post Weekly Intern Update 7 appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/weekly-intern-update-7-2/ Heather here There are exactly 61 sleeps, 4 hours, 23 minutes and 16 seconds to December 25th!
That’s right. I’m counting. If there was ever a year where it became permissible to deck the halls, crack open the Baileys and stuff a mince pie in one’s mouth before Dec 1st, it’s 2020. In fact, I’m of the belief that even Mary Berry (of Bake-Off fame) herself would be hard-pressed to sugar coat the sour taste this year’s left in all our mouths. And while there’s always a bright side to look at, simple joys like festive candles and fairy lights and cringe-worthy Netflix specials are always a plus! In case you’re wondering if I’ve put my tree up, the answer is ‘no’. This in no way stems from any insistence on conforming to societal norms. It’s literally just that my German husband turns into a lumberjack every December and insists on getting a ‘real tree’. Ironically, it always ends up being yours truly getting said ‘real tree’, and sawing off the stump so it can drink, and balancing it precariously in its stand…and hoovering up the pine needles… Oh well. ‘Tis the season and all that. It’s been a much better week in terms of productivity. First off, I GOT A NEW LAPTOP (I know Caps are ‘shouty’ – I AM shouting)! The ability to simply tune into a Zoom call, scroll through emails, copy-paste into G-suite and run Ahrefs…these are all fairly straight-forward processes. They becoming excruciating when you try and do them on a laptop with 20 GBs of RAM, though. Once I realized that my S-7 Galaxy Edge was outperforming my Toshiba, I knew it was time for a change (Deepak, if you’re reading this, thanks for the advice and the push)! Anyhow, thanks to my new baby, I’ve managed to pick up my feet a bit quicker this week. Here are some of the things I’ve been catching up on:
PR
I’ve been working on improving my processes this week – with some success! I now have writing case studies for tool testimonials down to a 15-minute science. While this may not sound ground-breaking, if you consider the fact I had about 8 pending testimonials to crank out, plus more coming in every day, it makes a massive difference! We’ve been making a push on link building for PlantSumo, Serpwizz, and Resumecats this week. It’s been fun pitching HARO for these, as I can pitch to different queries than usual and improve my knowledge of the brand in the process. Client PR is also taking off. Dr Watson got their first media mention this week (Harry, well done), plus 3 upcoming interview features in Authority magazine. We’ve also got some big brands putting out feelers, so we’re working on building a solid pitch deck – fingers crossed! Deepak’s researching new and innovative link building methods every day! His drive and vision is so amazing and it just goes to show that anything is possible if you work hard enough. I just hope to be able to keep up – but fear not! Help is on the horizon! Which brings me to my next project…
Trial WeekThis week, I assisted Federica and Akhila with assigning tasks to three people applying for internal roles with Pearl Lemon. While I’d worked alongside Noah with some content writing trial tasks before, this was my first time creating new tasks for PR exclusively.
Luckily, there’s a lot to do – and many hands make light work! Two of the people on trial are currently doing an amazing job on formatting our next (highly overdue) expert round-up post. Hopefully, we’ll get it done by the end of next week. We’d better – I have a PR round-up and a Plant Sumo round-up to crack on with!
Highlights:Finally seeing results for our outreach campaign for Dr Watson has definitely been amazing! Also, the opportunity to pitch our digital PR services to a potentially major client is an absolute buzz!
Challenges:In the Friday meeting, I mentioned that next week I want to improve at adding tasks directly to my Trello. Otherwise, they end up getting buried in my Whatsapp or Gmail and I literally forget that they exist (goldfish brain). This is something I’ve already started working on and hopefully by next Friday, I can say ‘Mission Accomplished’! Now if you don’t mind, I’m off to make that a mere 60 sleeps till Christmas ;)…
The post Weekly Intern Update 11 – Heather (Head of PR/Content Writer appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/weekly-intern-update-11-heather-head-of-pr-content-writer/ Hello, We’re going towards the end of quite a disorganised week. I feel like this week I could never handle my days as I had planned in the morning. So many things suddenly came up during the day and I always had to give them the priority. Hopefully, next week will be more organised!
In the HR area, I supported Akhila when she interviewed applicants and organised things to let them start their trial week. At the moment, we’re managing six people on trial: three as lead generation specialists and three working on PR. During this trial period, we’re often supported by other people who can give better feedback and direction as they have more experience in that specific job role. Times were quite stressful when client work increased and some key team members had to take a few days off. Luckily we managed to redistribute tasks and reorganise things among other people to maintain the same quality of work.
Besides HR, I have helped as a project manager and coordinator. That is why I am often involved in a lot of different projects to sort the small issues that come in the way. An example could be when I organised documents to upload on our website. Soon all people who have hit at least 4 months at Pearl Lemon will have a dedicated section with a longer video and blog post describing their overall experience at Pearl Lemon. Feel free to check mine out and find out more about me!
This week my episode of the ‘Meet The Team’ podcast was published on our YouTube channel! I think it turned out amazing and it will be a great value on my CV on LinkedIn. Anyone who wants to know who I am and what I do at Pearl Lemon can simply watch the interview where I talk about how I first joined the company in the summer of 2018, how things changed since then and even during these past few months. Noah, the host, also asked me a few questions about myself so that one could discover a bit of who I am and what I like doing in my free time. Here’s my interview! As you can tell, we also had fun recording it!
Huge news about Pearl Lemon Academy: the team is expanding as Giulia officially joined the programme on Friday! She celebrated in the best way possible: a few hours later she took part of one of our weekly team meetings! I’m so happy to have hired her as she’s so enthusiastic about the project, the overall dynamic environment and especially the way we work remotely but still manage to be in contact. I’m sure she will contribute a lot to the development of the startup and I can’t wait to work together on it!
I hope you’re all staying safe and healthy in these delicate times. In Italy we’re still in lockdown so most of the time I am at hope. Every now and then, I take the chance to spend some time in nature as in my area there are many woods I can walk in. I love autumn colours! I’ll catch up with you in my next weekly update! Ciao, Federica The post Weekly Intern Update 22 – Federica (HR Success Manager) appeared first on Pearl Lemon Internship Blog. Via https://internship.pearllemongroup.com/weekly-intern-update-22-federica-hr-success-manager/ Guess who?
That’s right, it’s me. Rachael Brown, content writer and podcast host. Back for another update on my internship at Pearl Lemon.
I’ve had a busy week, with dissertation deadlines and family commitments meaning I haven’t been able to push myself to write as much as I’d like. But I am still satisfied with what I have got done, despite my resting bitch face at team meetings, lol.
This week I’ve been really getting into the festive spirit by doing some cooking. Baking is a relatively new yet beloved hobby of mine. Yes, it low key makes me feel like a 1950’s housewife, but I get cookies and pies out of it so you gotta look on the bright side.
I have been using my family extensively as guinea pigs for new recipes I want to try throughout lockdown. One of these recipes has been gingersnaps, and for the first time on Thursday I got the spice mix perfect and they came out banging.
It upsets me sometimes Pearl Lemon is entirely remote, as I really like my colleagues and would love to share some gingersnaps with them like the office grandma.
My dreams aside, let’s get back to the update. Here are the highlights (in no particular order) of my week! Podcast Recap BlogsThe primary focus of this week has been getting my podcast recap blogs researched and written. And hey, what can I say, it’s been a success!
The first one I wrote was recapping my podcast trial run with Noah, and as the funniest podcast, it was a great place to start.
I ran it by him to get his thoughts/ approval and he seemed to really find it funny which of course, as the de facto pearl lemon prankster, was a massive compliment. I tried to fill it with as many out of touch and unbearable memes as possible, to truly capture my personality.
The second I wrote on Friday was of my interview with Lydia for the meet the team series. Where I recapped our discussions on living a plant-based lifestyle, weightlifting and BBQ lentils. I need to make some more edits to that, and I will get around to it next week where I want to aim to get three done.
We shall see. Plant Sumo link building campaign
This week we have got our Plant Sumo link building campaign, where we write local top ten round-ups of London vegan restaurants in specific boroughs for PR purposes, up and running.
I and Harry have been primarily working on this. I say ‘Me and Harry’ it’s been more Harry really, this week I wrote up one post while he’s been tearing through the lists like a machine. He works extremely fast, and comparatively, I feel like a bit of a content slug because by the time I’ve finished research for one post he has written two.
Every vegan publication in the UK should be bricking it because soon he will have identified the top ten plant-based restaurants in every borough in the UK and put them out of business.
Oh well, I am still proud of what I wrote though- and I think I will pop over to Harlesden to check it out when I’m back in the ol capital.
Hopefully, Harry (hint hint) could give me some advance on this mysterious talent of ‘being productive’? (Joking, haha) Might just ask everyone on the team to compile a list of their top tips. We will just have to wait and see. Content Writer Training Looms
Noah has asked all the content writers to contribute content writer training videos to a spreadsheet file he is amassing for future content writers. Recording looms is a process I literally have to psych myself up for, as I mess up so often I should set up a blooper folder for all my unused takes. So I decided to get mine down this week and out of the way.
I decided to record my videos on how to write website copy and meta descriptions, as these are two areas I have extensive experience with.
I wrote all the website copy for the official Plant Sumo website, and I have been writing and reviewing meta descriptions for Plant Sumo, Resume Cats and a variety of other sites.
With my loom on Website copy, as it can differ so much depending on your specific brand, I tried to focus on highlighting the typical structure of a website and give advice which was universally applicable. Stuff like creating a plan with the web designer and brand founder before you write, considering your business and target audience and how this impacts the copy at every turn and making it readable for mobile.
Meanwhile, for my loom on Meta Descriptions as they are so small, I decided to do a live demonstration where I came up with a brand, some key SEO words and wrote the main page meta description on the spot.
I am what my friends call an ‘elephant typer’, ergo my typing is so loud it’s ridiculous. If you have ever studied English literature at University, you knew girls like me, who every lecture was smacking away at their MacBooks. So I wouldn’t recommend watching this loom of mine unless you want to re-experience that trauma.
In my loom I also went through what they are, how they are used, and why they are so important, covering all the essentials.
